IGP was founded in 1987 with a focus on design, construction, operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants in the north east of Italy. The company however soon moved on to include all kinds of water-related services, from the supply of chemicals, spare parts and laboratory analysis, to the construction of fountains, pools and pumping stations for the irrigation.
The electronic expertise acquired in water treatment plants made it further possible for IGP to enter the vast field of automation, not only applied to the integrated water cycle, but also to heat production and remote control of plants and buildings which are not necessarily related to water. The by now well rooted electronic expertise applied for years to water treatment plants and its familiarity with sludge treatment made it only too natural for the company to recently extend its activities to the coproduction of biogas, energy and heat out of biomasses.
IGP’ s administrative offices, spare parts storage area, software chemical and microbiological analysis laboratories are located in Trieste, right on the border with Slovenia. In 2006 the consulting and planning activities of the company were taken over by IGP Engineering.
